Pushing Genocide

The events in Gaza has brought the world to realize that it is basically a genocide against the Palestinian people perpetrated by Israel and their bloodlust and desire for more land to expand their fledgling empire.

Sadly the MSM has done little to bring the attention to this atrocity to the public.

For instance we hear about the IDF soldiers that get killed but very little about the civilians that are killed and maimed….they, the media, half ass report the actual news and use every trick in  the journalistic playbook to keep us ignorant of the events the really take place….

Chris Hedges has written a piece that tears the veil away from the deceptive tactics of the media on this travesty….

The Western media manufactures consent for genocide. It normalizes Israel’s decades-long military occupation and apartheid. It erases Israel’s flagrant violations of international law. It perpetuates the fallacy of Israeli victimhood. It betrays, discredits and demonizes the work of Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza, at least 220 of whom have been killed by Israel between Oct. 7, 2023, and August 2025. It supinely accepts draconian Israeli censorship. It acquiesces with tepid letters of protest at Israel’s refusal to allow foreign reporters in Gaza — an effort by Israel to mask its war crimes. It amplifies Israeli lies, from beheaded babies to widespread sexual assault of Israeli women on Oct. 7, to obfuscate the truth.

When writing about Gaza, verbs are in the passive tense. There is no subject. No one is accountable. Genocide, it seems, is an act of God. No different from an earthquake or tsunami. Clichés and opaque adjectives such as the “cycle of violence” or “clashes” distort and falsify reality.

“If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought,” George Orwell warned.

Terms such as “genocide,” “atrocity,” “ethnic cleansing” and “occupied territories” magically disappear from media reports on Palestinians, whose resistance is routinely described as “savage” and “barbaric.” New York Times reporters are instructed by editors to avoid terms such as “Palestine,” “genocide,” “carnage,” “refugee camp,” “slaughter” and “massacre,” when referencing Palestinians.

The media slavishly regurgitates what Israel feeds it. Saturation bombing becomes “surgical air strikes.” Israel’s weaponization of famine becomes a “food shortage.” The killing of unarmed civilians — including children — becomes “clashes.” The hilltop fortress-like compounds of Jewish colonists becomes “neighborhoods.” Extrajudicial assassination of a journalist or a doctor becomes “died.”

I would say that Israeli PR and money is doing a fine job whitewashing their crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.

It is pathetic how the media will do their part to protect Israel from criticism….that needs to stop and stop now.

The Long Con

I make no secret of my extreme dislike (some may call it hatred) for the Supreme Court and the political hacks that sit on it…..none more disliked than chief justice Roberts….

This judge has done more damage to this country than most are unaware of because it is not reported as it should be….

I recently read an excellent article on his long con….

There is no bigger con man in the United States than Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. Not even President Donald J. Trump.

The con began in September 2005, during Roberts’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Articulate, handsome, and energetic at fifty years old, Roberts seemed to have been culled “straight from central casting,” as Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama actually remarked on the first day of the hearings. Roberts was also convincing—he famously promised that if confirmed, he would serve in the fashion of a baseball umpire, calling only “balls and strikes, and not to pitch or bat.” Seventy-eight Senators, including twenty-two Democrats, fell for the ploy and voted to give him the lifetime assignment.

The biggest yarn Roberts told during his hearing concerned his views on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), a cornerstone of American democracy, which the Supreme Court gutted this past April in a redistricting case from the state of Louisiana (Louisiana v. Callais).

As is his prerogative as Chief Justice, Roberts assigned the task of drafting the Callais majority opinion to fellow conservative Justice Samuel Alito, who responded with a 6 to 3 ruling that held that, henceforth, Section 2 of the landmark legislation would require VRA plaintiffs to meet the nearly impossible burden of proving that redistricting maps challenged as “racial gerrymanders” were created with discriminatory intent rather than for permissible political purposes. The opinion allowed Louisiana to eliminate one majority Black Congressional district. It also effectively negated legislation passed in 1982 that had amended Section 2 to permit the Justice Department and private citizens to challenge election laws that have the effect of diluting minority voting power without proving intent.

Flash back to 2005 and it is apparent that, at best, Roberts misled the judiciary committee. In response to a question from Massachusetts Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy about the VRA’s constitutionality, Roberts replied, “[T]he existing Voting Rights Act—the constitutionality has been upheld. And I don’t have any issue with that.”

The voters have had long cons played on them by politicians and we could have changed that….but we chose not to do so…..but with the Supreme Court we do not have that option and once seated they are there for life….even if they live to past one hundred…..we cannot rid ourselves of their devastating rulings.

We hear promises that reform is high on the agenda during elections and so far I have not seen shit once the elections are Over with…..have you?

I am sure we shall hear much on this issue and once the election is over nothing will materialize.

To Those That Fear Socialism

The Far Right is pulling no punches to instill fear in the voters because the DSA has made great progress in the elections….they even go as far as saying that people are voting for a Soviet style candidate.

To that I say….total bullshit!

But if they, those that are fearing the “socialist wave”, if you will, there is a simple, maybe not as simple as I make out, to calm the fear….

Everywhere I look, I see people expressing alarm about the popularity of socialism. It polls in the mid-to-high 30s, and considerably higher among younger people. Older people, who have a living memory of the various socialist regimes that once dotted the planet, which at best didn’t deliver prosperity to their people and at worst threw them in jail by the thousands, can’t understand how this could be and seem to want to talk endlessly about it.

I, however, marvel at the other consistent result of all these polls, which these people don’t seem nearly as interested in talking about. I refer to the ratings Americans give to capitalism. They’re terrible. A big Gallup poll from last fall is representative. Socialism won the approval of 39 percent, while capitalism’s positive number was 54 percent.

That is pathetic—barely half the country! In the country that invented modern capitalism and where it is worshipped by the elite class! And you know what? It’s entirely deserved. In fact, it deserves to be a little worse (as it is among Democrats). The kind of capitalism we’ve been practicing in this country over the last 40-plus years is cruel, corrupt, and a perversion of what humane capitalism ought to be. The people who are so freaked out about socialism ought to realize that the only way they’re going to arrest its rise is to change capitalism for the better.

From the founding of the country until the stock market crash of 1929, the general belief was that government should be small and markets should not be regulated. Some people say it worked pretty well until 1929, but in fact, that isn’t true. It worked well enough to perpetuate itself, because if capitalism is anything it’s elastic and dynamic, but that’s about it.

This is saying that capitalism should be fixed and maybe progressives would not be gaining popularity.

I think that is an excellent idea but let’s be honest….the oligarchs have a stranglehold on the economy and the government and fixing the problem will entail some harsh policies….policies that I do not think many will support.

The reality is if profitability drops all reform must disappear.  That as it is today is the sad reality.  Then the question needs asking….can capitalism be reformed?

My opinion is no it cannot be reformed successfully….if that is the case then we need to replace it.

Lose The Senate

One plank in the DSA platform is to get rid of the Senate….and there has been a wealth of ink wasted on this idea by MAGA propaganda rags.

Get rid of the Senate?

Now there is a novel idea.  (sarcasm)

I have advocated getting rid of the Senate and become a unicameral government….and boy did I get push back years ago when I wrote about the idea….that was 7 years ago.

We can explain the Senate thusly….’where great ideas go to die’…the Senate has been dysfunctional for many decades…..if it cannot get its shit together why not just get rid of it?

As a matter of fact (you guessed it….I wrote about it)…..

Against Bicameralism

I bring up my thoughts because apparently the DSA has added this into their 2026 platform….

Replace the two-party system with a multi-party democracy. Expand the House of Representatives, implement proportional representation and ranked choice voting in all elections, and abolish the Senate.

I believe the UK is doing something along this line with the House of Lords (any UK readers want to expand on this for us)…but here it will be an uphill struggle.

The DSA is saying the same thing….this from their new platform….

Let’s be honest….is the senate really necessary?

American democracy has a big problem. It’s called the U.S. Senate. The United States Senate was explicitly designed to be undemocratic: It represents states, not people. Some states have as many people as a city, while others have as many as a large country. The great state of Wyoming is home to fewer people than any one of the nation’s most populous 25 cities. More people live in California than either Canada or Australia. But each state gets two senators, regardless of population. The result? Half of the nation’s people have only 18 senators representing them, while 52 senators represent just 18 percent of Americans.

The skew isn’t random. White Americans have on average nearly twice as much representation in the Senate as Black and Hispanic Americans. That’s because the large and growing states — California, Texas, Florida, and New York — are becoming more racially and ethnically diverse, while many small states are staying white. Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont are among the smallest and the whitest states.

This representation gap in the US Senate is only getting worse. As big, diverse states continue to grow, their people will get even less say in Congress. In 20 years, one-in-three Americans will be represented by just six out of one hundred Senators.

The answer to my question is….NO we do not need the Senate…..the place where good ideas go to die…..we need functioning representation.

DSA Is Full Of Marxists

Well that is the storyline the MAGA rags would have its readers believe…..invoking more Red Scare….and sadly it works on those with meager mental capabilities.  They like to paint opposition in broad strokes….matters not that it is inaccurate for the most part.

The truth is there are Marxists within the DSA but that does not make the whole organization Marxist just like the GOP’s Log Cabin Republicans does not make the whole GOP gay.

So yes there are some Marxist in the DSA but they are a faction not the controlling body….there are even some, few, Leninists and Maoists within the organization.

But why would Marxists enter into a organization of social democracy?

For decades, DSA was an anti-communist, Labor Zionist, social democratic organization. However, in 2016, a massive wave of new members completely overran its existing membership, and DSA was unable to draw them into its existing ideology. Due to the ideological diversity of this wave of new members, that old alignment was not replaced by any fully developed ideology. DSA’s new politics came to be defined by a strong electoral orientation, as many people saw the rapid rise in DSA’s membership between 2016 and 2019 as the direct result of the Bernie, Trump, and AOC campaigns. Many of the new members were initially inspired by Bernie and AOC’s brand of social democracy, and DSA’s success was often framed, accurately or not, via electoral success, securing that social democratic tendency a presence in the new DSA.

That said…..what does a Marxist organization say about the DSA….

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has become a serious political force. As of February 2026, DSA said it had surpassed 100,000 members, and Zohran Mamdani’s victory in New York City’s 2025 mayoral election gave the organization its most visible municipal triumph to date.  Yet from a rigorous Marxist standpoint, the organization’s present political and organizational trajectory raises deep strategic concerns. The problem is not that its immediate demands are necessarily wrong. The problem is that the methods and structures it has adopted may systematically prevent those demands from ever being realized. This essay argues that DSA’s commitment to electoralism within the Democratic Party, its reformism without a developed theory of the state, its class composition, and its ideologically diffuse “big tent” model together forms a set of contradictions that Marxist analysis reveals as structural rather than accidental.

Social democracy assumes that capitalism can be durably civilized through redistribution, regulation, and welfare-state management. Marxism insists that such gains are real but unstable, because they rest on a social order whose core relation is exploitation and whose dominant class retains structural power over investment, employment, credit, and the state itself. The difference is not semantic. It concerns whether the goal is to humanize capitalism or to supersede it.

A Marxist critique of DSA

As you see they are not the same and to lump them all together is pure lunacy.

The State Of US Healthcare

Since my double diagnosis of cancer I have been watching the crap being pulled on the US healthcare system.

This subject is an ever changing one thanks to the mindless decisions made by Donny and that pack of idiots our healthcare depends upon….idiots like Oz and RFK,Jr….neither is especially bright.

Since the ill advised policies of Donny and his GOP Lackeys the strain on hospitals has increased….

Months after congressional Republicans refused to extend enhanced subsidies for Americans who receive their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, hospitals across the US are seeing a surge in uninsured patients seeking emergency medical care.

According to a Thursday report in The New York Times, executives at large hospital systems have been raising alarms over “the unexpectedly sharp rise in uninsured patients and the costs associated with treating them.”

With many uninsured patients unable to pay their hospital bills, the Times noted, hospitals are seeing “lost revenues amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars across the country’s vast health systems.”

The Times linked this surge in uninsured patients directly to the Republican-controlled Congress allowing more generous subsidies for plans purchased through the ACA to lapse at the end of 2025. Enrollment in the program has fallen by about 3 million people since last year.

“What that tells me is that there are patients who are completely unable to pay,” Laura Kaiser, chief executive of Catholic nonprofit hospital group SSM Health, told the Times. “We’re really crushing people who are desperately trying to pay their bills.”

And believe it or not people voted for this asshole.

Then there are the policies for those who get Medicaid….

A federal judge on Thursday denied a request by more than two dozen Democratic states to halt a Trump administration policy announced last month that would require Medicaid recipients with terminal diseases to prove they are too sick to work in order to be exempt from new work requirements that go into effect this coming January.

While introducing over $1 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of Americans, last year’s massive GOP tax and budget bill also imposed new 80-hour-per-month work requirements that states must implement for Medicaid expansion recipients, who receive government-subsidized insurance coverage at or below 138% of the poverty line.

The law specified that those who are “medically frail or otherwise have special medical needs” are excluded from the work requirement, and specifically listed people with a “serious or complex medical condition.” But it remained unclear what exact conditions met these criteria.

Earlier this month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced a new rule stating that even if a person receives a terminal diagnosis for a disease like cancer, HIV/AIDS, or Parkinson’s, that is still not enough for them to be exempt from the work requirements.

Trump Diplomacy–Comic Book Edition

Our mindless Donny with his off again on again war with Iran made me think back to his first term and into his second and wonder just what the Hell is he thinking….that is if he thinking at all….

I recently read a great article that tries to explain these brain farts Donny keeps having….

But what are we going to do with Donald Trump? Wouldn’t his vanity, his vulgarity, and his relentless pursuit of money and minerals in every corner of the globe turn any literary analogies into soggy clichés? Like the showman P.T. Barnum, Trump is an American original, whose true metaphors can be found only in comic books (America’s one true art form), not literature. As Ariel Dorfman reminded us once upon a time in How to Read Donald Duck, that classic guide to U.S. cultural imperialism in Latin America, there was always more to a Disney comic book than gags.

To understand Trump’s America, we need our own comic guidebook to his global misadventures, which might be titled something like “How to Read Scrooge McDuck.” After all, in case you never had the pleasure of his acquaintance, Scrooge McDuck was the predatory billionaire in Disney comics, who was amazingly popular among teenagers in Cold War America. In that era when American corporations scampered around the global economy extracting profits wherever they saw fit, Scrooge McDuck put a friendly face on U.S. imperialism, making covert intervention and commercial exploitation look benign, even comic.

From 1952 to 1988, a period coinciding almost precisely with the Cold War, the comic’s creator, illustrator Carl Barks, filled the country’s magazine racks with more than 220 comic books celebrating Scrooge’s schemes to accumulate ever more billions by dispatching Donald Duck and his triplet nephews (Huey, Dewey, and Louie) to scour the world for riches — gems, minerals, oil, and lost treasure. No place on the planet was too remote, not even the Arctic or the Amazon, and no people too poor or obscure, not even Hondurans and Tibetans, to escape his tight-fisted grasp. And yet in that innocent world of the comic book, every adventure, no matter how twisted the plot, always ended with a light laugh for those duckling heroes and the diverse peoples they encountered on their global travels.

That is a term that was first used by Arendt back in the early 60s at the trial of Eichmann…..

As tourists complete their strolls to the White House from the east along Pennsylvania Avenue, they pass a relatively unremarkable, columned office building that overlooks Lafayette Square — oblivious that, behind its walls, bureaucrats are quietly inflicting poverty, illness and death on innumerable innocents around the world.

The Freedman’s Bank Building doesn’t house CIA or Department of Defense officials, but rather the US Treasury’s little-known Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Instead of orchestrating airstrikes or insurgencies, these bureaucrats impose mass suffering via economic warfare, collectively serving as the tip of the spear that is America’s ever-expanding economic sanctions regime.

Is It An Illusion Of Liberty?

I have been thinking about some people that cherish our liberties but in the past few years those so-called liberties have been eroding away and a special thanks to the Supreme Court for helping the demise.

Below are some thoughts from an author, Stuart Delony, on what we are losing, piece by piece….

It’s that time when we celebrate our freedoms while cooking meat, blowing things up, and conveniently ignoring the erosion of the very liberties we’re celebrating. So between the hotdogs and fireworks, let’s explore if we’re as free as our forefathers intended… or living in blissful ignorance.

Remember back in history class? When we all learned that the founding fathers risked everything to declare independence from British tyranny? They gave us the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and seemingly endless bumper sticker quotes. 

Fast forward to now, and I’m left wondering if those sacrifices were in vain and freedom a relic of the past. Think I’m wrong? Let’s look down a list for fun:

A Surveillance Nation

Our civil liberties are on life support. Mass surveillance has become the norm. Big Brother watches our every move. Sure, we’ve still got the right to protest, but only if you’re okay with being pepper-sprayed, tasered, and/or hauled off to jail. It really doesn’t seem much of an upgrade to tar and feathering.

The Voting Games

Voting is supposed to be the cornerstone of democracy, right? Except it’s not as simple as showing up and casting a ballot. Gerrymandering ensures that politicians pick their voters and not the other way around. Then we’ve got voter ID laws, polling place closures, and purges of voter rolls. Those are just a few of the tricks used to suppress the vote. And don’t even get me started on the Electoral College.

The Rich Get Richer

You’re free to pursue the American Dream – if you can afford it. The top 1% hoard their wealth while the rest of us are stuck in a cycle of debt, stagnating wages, and skyrocketing living costs. The richest 1% of Americans own more than 40% of the country’s wealth. Meanwhile, the bottom 50% collectively own just 1%. A level playing field is never an option when corporate greed reigns supreme. The system is rigged whether we want to acknowledge it or not.

A Selective Kind of Liberty

Personal freedom used to mean being able to make choices about your own body and life. Today, reproductive rights are under constant assault, with politicians horny to control what women’s bodies. Doesn’t sound creepy at all. Then there’s LGBTQ+ rights. While progress has been made, there’s always a new push to strip away the hard-won gains.

The Changing Narrative

Is truth truth anymore? Media companies now control what we see, hear, and read, shaping public opinion to suit their agendas and profits. The problem is that independent journalism is on the decline and dissenting voices are drowned out by the din of manufactured consent.

Our liberties are being strip away slowly but slowly and we the people spend our time worrying about bathrooms while you focus on silliness you are losing your rights and liberties.

Don’t blame Trump completely for the Dems have done little to change the direction of this downward spiral…..they promise but their actions are far from proof.

This vote will be a joke told by our great-grand kids and you spend your time worrying about bathrooms.

I hope you get what is coming to you for cultivating ignorance.

Assault On Free Speech

We hear a lot of this stuff these days….it seems that everyone is ranting about the loss of of our right to freely speak our minds.

The TikTok thing is said to be a loss of free speech and so……

Take for instance this AntiSemitism Awareness Act that will come up for a vote soon.

Totalitarianism rarely shows its true face when it arises. Instead, it often pretends to stand for good and decent values. A new bill claims to fight anti-Semitism, something all decent people oppose. 

But anti-Semitism — that is, bias and discrimination against Jews because of their religion or ethnic identity — is already barred under civil rights law. The real goal of the so-called “Antisemitism Awareness Act” is to suppress free speech.

This dangerous bill was passed by the House of Representatives and now awaits a Senate vote. It outsources some of our constitutional rights to an outside organization, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, whose arbitrary definition of anti-Semitism poses a threat to civil liberties.

It could be used to crush legitimate debate about Israel, its policies and American policies toward it — policies that have given rise to one of the greatest acts of genocide since the Holocaust.

This bill could suppress historical research and ban the mention of facts that have been verified by international organizations. It could initiate lawsuits, funding cuts and disciplinary action across all American “education programs or activities, and for other purposes.” (Those “other purposes” are not defined.)

Student protesters, professors, writers and even elected officials could face political repression and become legal targets.

The Dangerous ‘Anti-Semitism Awareness’ Act

I bring this up because according to this pack of manure flies I am an anti-Semite….which is total bullshit.

My dislike of the state of Israel has not a damn thing to do with religion….I personally could care less where or what they choose to worship that is their problem not mine.  I dislike Israel goes way back to 1967 and the murderous attack on the US naval vessel, the USS Liberty, where they, Israel, was allowed to attack an unarmed ship killing and injuring American sailors without any retaliation.

My nation may have forget this dastardly deed but I have not.

If I criticize the bastards I will be labelled an anti-Semite….I say so be it I refuse to give up my right to free speech and criticism.

First I was banned from a boycott of Israel and now I cannot criticize the state of Israel and their barbaric ways….this from a government that is in the deep pockets of AIPAC.

Apparently with enough ‘grease’ you can get anything you want from our corrupt officials…..like Congress and the White house.

You may be silent but I shall not and will never until I am dead.
